Drinking water and waste water: trouble-free treatment

If you work in water treatment, you know what it is like: incredible amounts of water are moved every day. An immense process that requires one thing above all: Reliability. And that applies to the variable frequency drives too.

KOSTAL variable frequency drives in waste water treatment: Pump functions for all stages

Not all waste water is the same. From coarse physical impurities to the finest chemical particles, waste water passes through the most diverse purification stages in the sewage treatment plant. During the course of these stages, the way in which the water flows also changes. Both the responsible waste water pump and the variable frequency drive used must be able to handle this.

Our KOSTAL variable frequency drives feature specific setting parameters and pump functions. From protection against dry-running to blocking detection and overheating protection. This allows you to prepare your waste water pumps for all forms of waste water – for smooth waste water treatment. In all stages of water reprocessing.

Water treatment with KOSTAL variable frequency drives: No more failures

Short circuits, spontaneous repairs, costly outages: water and electricity are two elements that do not always go well together. However, you cannot do without either of them in water treatment, be it in industry, swimming pools or the waste water/drinking water sector.

To ensure that your water pumps, applications or water systems operate continuously even under the wettest conditions, our variable frequency drives are equipped with an aluminium die-cast casing and IP 65 protection class. Both protect the electronics from rough water jets and constant moisture. And save your company from costly failures and damage.
The patented technology of the pulse injection process also means that you can dispense with the most sensitive part of the variable frequency drive: the encoder. So you benefit from first-class reliability and lower maintenance costs.

Waste water treatment with KOSTAL variable frequency drives: Economical and 24/7

Waste water is produced around the clock, making 24/7 waste water treatment necessary. However, this means that huge amounts of energy are consumed within the waste water treatment plant, which should definitely be limited. For lower costs and a healthier environment.

If you use a variable frequency drive from KOSTAL, you can make your processes energy-efficient. By using a PID controller and demand-driven supply voltage regulation thanks to our KOSTAL electronics, you can reduce electricity consumption by up to 50 %. You do not have to sacrifice performance at all, so you always get the best out of it: smooth waste water treatment, low energy costs and a first-class carbon footprint.

Water treatment needs a lot of power – the easy way

In drinking water treatment, waste water treatment and also in industry or swimming pools, sometimes gigantic quantities of water are moved. This requires the applications consisting of motors, water pumps and variable frequency drives to really deliver. Only then can the water treatment plants meet the relevant requirements.

To ensure that your applications get the power they need, we have provided our motor-mounted variable frequency drives with up to 30 kW of power. This is sufficient for the vast majority of applications in drinking water systems and waste water systems and, thanks to direct mounting on the water pump motor, ensures an overall system that operates smoothly, without long cables and control cabinets.

However, if motor mounting is not possible, we still have the VERTIMO E, our wall-mounted variable frequency drive with special pump functions and up to 150 kW power.
