KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik GmbH / Business Unit Drives is part of the KOSTAL Group. As a diversified company, it is active in various sectors.

For us, having been a family-owned company for a number of generations means knowing our roots, our capabilities, our desires and our links to each other.

Being a family-owned company for over 100 years has a special meaning for KOSTAL: the actions of the company and our employees are based on shared values, a strong bond and loyalty between the company, the Kostal family and the employees. This also includes a long-term and sustainable focus in all our activities.

At the KOSTAL Group, these activities extend to developing high-quality electronic, electromechanical and mechatronic solutions for a wide range of automotive and industrial applications.

The KOSTAL company is divided into four divisions: Automotive Electrical Systems, Industrial Electronics, Connectors and SOMA Test Technology. All divisions achieve a combined turnover of 3.9 billion euros. Since being founded in 1912 by Leopold Kostal in Lüdenscheid, the group has grown continuously. Today, KOSTAL employs over 19.100 people at 46 locations in 20 countries on five continents.

The KOSTAL Group’s partners include leading global automotive manufacturers and numerous major industrial companies.

With the founding of KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik in 1995 under the umbrella of the KOSTAL Group, the stage was set for providing broad expertise from the automotive sector to additional markets, such as drive technology.

Based in Hagen, Germany, the leading power electronics company employs over 300 members of staff in development, production and administration.

As a family-owned company, it is important to us that a sustainable and long-term approach is taken in everything we do. One of our company values is: "Building the future today".

We are fully aware that we need to conserve our environment and use resources sparingly and carefully if we are to leave the next generations a future worth living in. The Drives business unit

The Drives business unit focuses on variable frequency drives as a key nerve centre in the industrial drive train. Here we concentrate in particular on decentralised, motor-mounted devices with their stringent quality and robustness requirements. Thanks to our long history of power electronics work and close connections with our customers, we are ideally able to cater to the needs of the market.
