INVEOR lines of drive controllers: The driving force for modern energy generation

Thanks to more than 100 years of experience, today KOSTAL builds modern and innovative drive technology. This is increasingly playing a role in the promotion of renewable energies. As the market leader in the field of motor-mounted drive technology, KOSTAL produces a line of drive controllers that is used in many systems.

Through our INVEOR series, we produce drive controllers that can be configured by the module and are adapted perfectly to the requirements of very different applications. The variable frequency drives combine a robust and durable design with reliable technology that runs smoothly even under difficult conditions.

KOSTAL variable frequency drives for use under extreme environmental conditions

In offshore wind farms, technical drives are exposed to severe environmental conditions. Salt water, wind and salt spray place extreme demands on all components used. Owners of such a system must nevertheless ensure reliable and fail-safe operation.

This is exactly where the KOSTAL drive controllers from the INVEOR series come into play: the devices perform even at temperatures of -25 or +50 degrees. Such temperature ranges are not uncommon for wind turbines. In addition, the salty air cannot harm our INVEOR variable frequency drives. We have designed the variable frequency drives to be totally resistant to salt spray. KOSTAL technology is therefore also ideally suited for use on the high seas.

Roller bearing drives and hydraulic pumps for wind turbines

Drive controls from KOSTAL are used wherever a motor has to work economically. Our drive controllers not only extend the service life of a motor by ensuring the best possible system utilisation. All KOSTAL INVEOR models also operate without a fan (up to 7.5 kW). This makes the devices not just particularly maintenance-friendly but also durable, as no dust can penetrate even under demanding operating conditions.

For the INVEOR, usage in modern wind turbines is not limited to roller bearing drives for azimuth and pitch adjustment, but they can also be used for a variety of hydraulic applications in this environment, such as in the area of pitch adjustment, azimuth braking, rotor braking and locking. All these hydraulic pumps can be controlled by the INVEOR. Another area of application for the INVEOR is high-performance cooling for these stationary hydraulics using appropriate oil fans.

Another KOSTAL plus point: our power electronics for roller bearing drives and hydraulic pumps require no electrolytic capacitors whatsoever. This makes KOSTAL variable frequency drives significantly more robust than comparable models with electrolytic capacitors. Our INVEOR variable frequency drives can therefore withstand much higher vibrations. As motor-mounted variable frequency drives, our devices can handle loads of up to 5G.

Agitators in biogas plants

In modern biogas plants, it is important that various floating and sinking layers are prevented. Therefore, the substrate must be circulated regularly. Submersible agitators are used here, where performance and reliability are the most important factors. Thanks to its great robustness, again here the INVEOR can withstand exposure to ammonia acid, thus ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
