With Bitflux GmbH, KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik GmbH takes over the expert for sensorless control methods
KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik GmbH from Hagen/Westf. recently acquired the shares of Bitflux GmbH from Munich, one of the world’s leading specialists for sensorless control technology. Bitflux thus becomes part of the KOSTAL Group and will trade under the name KOSTAL Drives Technology GmbH.
Bitflux GmbH emerged in 2016 from the prestigious Chair for Electrical Drive Systems and Power Electronics of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Ralph Kennel of the Technical University (TU) Munich.
Its three founders Dr.-Eng. Dirk Paulus, Dr.-Eng. Peter Landsmann and M. Sc. Sascha Kühl have developed an innovative pulse injection method and applied for a patent. With the help of this innovative motor control, companies can significantly increase the robustness of drive systems in numerous customer applications, while significantly reducing the required motor size, the risk of malfunctions and system costs.
For Dipl.-Eng., Dipl.-Wirt.-Eng. Dirk Fedder, Head of Business Unit Drives at KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik, the acquisition of Bitflux offers a unique opportunity to further expand the strategic positioning as market leader for decentralized drive technology. The basis for this good market position is provided by the two new members, the INVEOR MP and INVEOR MP modular, expanded INVEOR drive controller platform. “With the additional control technology know-how, KOSTAL is underpinning its position as market leader in sensorless control processes”, says Fedder proudly.
But the acquisition also opens up exciting options for Bitflux, as Sascha Kühl, Managing Director of Bitflux, outlines: “The combination of KOSTAL and Bitflux results in strategic advantages and synergies for both sides. The goal is to further improve the performance of sensorless control processes and to further optimize electric drive systems in terms of costs and energy efficiency.”
With this successful win-win situation for both companies, but above all for the current and potential customers of KOSTAL Industrial Electronics, the Hagen-based company will not only fulfil its role as market leader, but will also “intelligently combine” its own brand claim.
